The Significator Card

June 8, 2009

When doing a reading, some Tarot Readers like to choose a card to represent the Querent. This is called the significator. The purpose of the Significator card is to help the reader focus on the person receiving the reading. Or returned to the deck, and if chosen in a spread, to indicate that the position the card was drawn in has important significance. The chosen card can be an indication to the reader of the person’s character, (chosen by the Zodiac method) or physical representation.

If you like to use a significator, there are several different methods of deciding on the appropriate card to represent the Querent. The two I work with are the Zodiac Signs and Physical Characteristics. When I do a reading long distance or over the internet, the Zodiac sign has always been the best way for me. • Physical Characteristic Method

Significators based on physical appearance are popular because it doesn’t require the Querent to know their Zodiac sign. The physical characteristics are illustrated on the Minor Arcana Court Cards. King for an adult male, Queen for an adult woman, Knight for a nubile male or female, and the Page for young teen or child of either sex…
